A coalition of political forces in Iraqi Kurdistan’s Iran in a statement condemned the Islamic Republic’s drone attacks on the office of Masrour Barzani, the prime minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the headquarters of the Kurdistan Region’s security organization, calling them a continuation of Tehran’s hostile actions against this region.
The coalition, made up of six Iranian Kurdish parties, said that since the outbreak of the war, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has been targeted more than one thousand times, and about half of these attacks have targeted the bases of Iranian Kurdish parties as well as the places where their members and their families live.
In the statement, the coalition said the attacks have continued despite the Kurdistan Region of Iraq’s announcement of neutrality, describing them as an explicit violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. The coalition emphasized that the attacks threaten the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region and called for their immediate cessation.
The coalition also asked the Iraqi government to take a serious position regarding these attacks, and urged countries with diplomatic representation in the Kurdistan Region to increase political and diplomatic pressure on Tehran in order to prevent the repetition of these attacks.
