A well-informed source at the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic, in talks with Fars news agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, announced that within a specific period, entry into the Strait of Hormuz would be carried out through the northern corridor near the coast of Iran, in accordance with the framework of negotiations raised with Oman.

Fars, quoting this informed source, wrote: “After the end of the specified deadline, the passage of ships through both the northern and southern corridors will be halted and all traffic will be carried out through the central corridor, with the difference that the ships’ entry will be managed by Iran and the ships’ exit will be managed jointly by Iran and Oman.”

This source told the Guard-affiliated media: “The fee for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz will be based on the services provided, and the news that a tariff of 3 or 7 percent of the value of cargoes is being set is not true.”

The source also added that the cost of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz would be determined based on services such as insurance, refueling, and environmental services.
