Ali Reza Salimi, a member of the parliamentary presidium, in an interview with the Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, announced that the initial draft of the bill to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz is under review in the National Security Commission, and that under this plan the passage of vessels belonging to the United States, Israel, and other “hostile countries,” as well as shipments related to Israel, through the Strait of Hormuz will be prohibited.

Salimi said: “Based on this plan, countries and individuals that have caused damage to Iran will not receive permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf until the damage is compensated.”

The member of the parliamentary presidium added that in the initial draft for the management of the Strait of Hormuz, fines of up to 20% of the value of the cargo have been envisaged for “lawbreakers.”

Salimi said: “The government will be required to, in cooperation with the armed forces, take on responsibilities such as navigation guidance, monitoring vessel traffic, and ensuring the security and environmental protection of the Persian Gulf.”
