Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, in response to remarks by Donald Trump, the President of the United States, about the start of the “most backbreaking economic operation” against Tehran, said on X that this policy, too, like previous actions by the United States, is “doomed to fail.”

Araqchi, by sharing an image of a post from 2012 by Barack Obama, the former U.S. president, wrote on X that the sanctions that, 14 years ago, were called “the most crippling sanctions in history” failed.

He added that the “maximum pressure” policy from eight years ago and the “unconditional surrender” request from five months ago also failed, and that the “most backbreaking economic operation” announced by Trump will not achieve results either.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic wrote: “We have seen this film before. The same bullying, different bullies.”
