According to The Wall Street Journal, Daniel Driscoll, the U.S. Army Ground Forces Secretary, after months of tension and disagreement with Pete Hegseth, the U.S. (war) defense secretary, has submitted his resignation to Donald Trump, the president of the country, and it is expected that in the coming days he will leave the Pentagon.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that the dispute between Driscoll and Hegseth over the future direction of the U.S. Army’s Ground Forces and the removal of a number of its senior commanders had intensified.

The White House praised Mr. Driscoll’s performance and said that, in implementing Trump’s defense agenda, he played an effective role in increasing the readiness and combat capability of the Army as well as negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Driscoll’s resignation also makes the management situation of the U.S. Army more complicated.

According to The Wall Street Journal, after his departure, the U.S. Army will have no military or civilian post approved by the Senate at its head.
