Ali Dadpey, an economist, said this in reference to the revocation of the license of Bank Melli in Istanbul: “This bank was one of the direct banking channels between Iran and Turkey, and closing it will push transactions further toward commodity barter and unofficial channels.”
He added that with the reduction of banking channels, the inflow of foreign currency into the domestic market will also decrease, and said the Islamic Republic is facing “step by step with economic siege,” and that its regional channels are gradually being closed.
