Alireza Zakani, the mayor of Tehran, in an interview with Student News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Republic, said that during the attack on 9 Esfand 1404 (February 28, 2026), he had gone to the home (beit) by motorcycle from around Ferdowsi Square. He added that the missile had hit directly the floor where Mojtaba Khamenei was present. According to Zakani, the wife of Mojtaba Khamenei was killed in this attack and he himself was injured. Zakani said that one of the goals of this attack was to kill Mojtaba Khamenei.
