Joseph Aoun, President of Lebanon, met with Lieutenant General Joseph Clerfied, head of the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon, in Beirut. Based on a statement by the Lebanese presidency, the two sides discussed steps that must be taken to implement the framework agreement signed on Tir 5 in Washington.
The Lebanese presidency added that the talks took place in the context of consultations that Clerfied had in Israel last week. The Military Coordination Group for Lebanon is a trilateral institution established on the basis of that agreement and led by the United States.
On Tir 5, the ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel signed the framework agreement in Washington, in the presence of the U.S. Secretary of State, at the end of the fifth round of direct negotiations.
