Amir Vaisi, senior analyst at Iran International, said that officials of the Islamic Republic had repeatedly rejected Iran International’s reports about the intensification of the power struggle within the structure of the government, but, according to him, the recent disputes over the Supreme National Security Council show that these differences have now reached the highest levels of power, openly, in front of public opinion.

He added that ambiguity about Mojtaba Khamenei’s situation began after his absence from the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei, but now, with his inability to appoint his representative in the Supreme National Security Council, this ambiguity has become even more pronounced. According to Vaisi, this situation could be a sign of Mojtaba Khamenei’s death or physical inability to carry out his role as a decision-maker; a development, he said, has pushed commanders and power centers to make decisions instead of him.
