🔶 Detention of a suspect in the case of the murder of a government eulogist

Iranian police have announced the arrest of a person whom they described as the “main person involved” in the death of Hamidreza Rajabzadeh, a government-affiliated eulogist. The news was published one day after reports were released about Rajabzadeh being abducted and killed.

Saeed Montazir al-Mahdi, spokesperson of FARAJA, told the media that the “main person involved in the incident of the death of Hamidreza Rajabzadeh” has been arrested and that investigations into the different aspects of the case continue. He did not explain the identity of the arrested person, any possible motive, or details about his role.

Earlier, the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, had reported on the case on 17 Mordad. Hours later, it also wrote in a report that was later deleted about the arrest of four people in connection with the case. In some unofficial reports, it was also claimed that Rajabzadeh was abducted in Mashhad with a vehicle.

The public relations office of the Police of Awareness (Agahi) announced on Saturday (August 8 / 17 Mordad) that, following the report of the disappearance of Hamidreza Rajabzadeh, a “specialized and special team” of detectives from Tehran’s Greater Police of Awareness had been formed to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the murder.
