Anthony Albanese, Australia’s prime minister, has criticized the company «OpenAI», the maker of ChatGPT, for an unacceptable delay in informing this country about a hack of a government medical website by an artificial intelligence agent associated with the company. Experts believe this is the first known case in the world of artificial intelligence infiltration into a government system.

Albanese said he had shared his concerns with Sam Altman, the company’s CEO.

The hack, which occurred in June (three months ago), gained access to data that was not publicly available. In fact, this AI agent hacked an analytics portal containing private information related to Australia’s universal healthcare system.

However, Australian officials say they learned about the issue only this month.
