🔶 Attacks by media close to the IRGC on Zarifchi after meeting with Witkoff

The meeting of Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, with Steve Witkoff, the special representative of Donald Trump, in New York has been met with sharp criticism from media outlets close to the IRGC.

They say that such a meeting, under conditions of intensified U.S. pressure, will only benefit Washington.

Earlier, IRIB news agency had reported that Araghchi met with Witkoff with “insistence” from the U.S. representative on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Based on this report, the reason for Araghchi’s acceptance of the meeting was cited as the notification of Iran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

In the account published by media outlets close to the government, it was said that in this meeting, Araghchi conveyed Iran’s “firm position” to the U.S. representative.

Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the IRGC, wrote in a sharp criticism that Iran’s conditions regarding the Strait of Hormuz had previously been conveyed to the American side through intermediaries many times, and Iranian officials had also spoken about them in public interviews.

The outlet concluded that “announcing Iran’s firm conditions” in a meeting with Witkoff alone cannot justify such a direct meeting.
