Based on information received by Iran International, Alireza Balone, a 22-year-old protester and working at a fast food outlet, was arrested at his workplace in Saadatabad, Tehran, during the protests of Dey (January/December). He is still being held in Tehran’s Great Prison in an undetermined situation.

According to this information, Balone was tried at Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Salavati, on a charge of “acting against the security of the system through participation in an assembly.” He has undergone and faced five sessions of pre-trial hearings and court proceedings to date. Four sessions were held at the Revolutionary Court, and one session was held online from inside the prison via video conferencing.

Based on this information, Balone’s family were unaware of his situation and place of detention during the first weeks, and about three weeks after his arrest they learned that he was being held in Tehran’s Great Prison.
