Majed Al Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Doha is actively participating in efforts to reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington.

According to Al Ansari, Qatar is following progress in ongoing talks between Oman and the Islamic Republic.

The spokesperson of Qatar’s foreign ministry added that the minimum necessary step in the current phase is to restore the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law regulations.

He emphasized that any decision-making regarding how the Strait of Hormuz will be managed in the future should be carried out with the agreement of the countries of the region and within the framework of international law in order to preserve regional security and stability.
