Behman Qobadi returns after a five-year absence with his latest work, titled “Trees are Watching,” at the Toronto Festival, the largest film festival in North America; a horror film starring a well-known cinema star, Eva Green.

After moving from simple, poetic films such as “Time for the Drunken Horses” and “Turtles Also Fly,” to social films like “No One Knows about Iranian Cats,” Qobadi now records a new experience in this film under his own name: a horror film that essentially makes use of the rules of the genre—one that Iranian filmmakers, both inside and outside the country, have very rarely turned to.

Qobadi, who previously used a global star in his film (Monica Bellucci in “The Season of the Lynx”), this time as well has made use of a well-known star to pursue his concerns and worlds in a way different from his previous works, in a film that meets the standard scale of a popular horror genre.
