A fresh review by the Munich-based Ifo (Istituto für Wirtschaftsforschung), an information and economic research institute affiliated with the University of Munich, shows that the business climate for Germany’s automotive industry improved in July, even though the sector is still facing structural problems and reduced demand in some key markets. According to the institute, increased European investment in defense industries has become one of the most important factors strengthening the industry’s outlook.

The business climate index for the automotive industry, calculated by the Ifo institute, rose by six points in July and reached minus 15.6 points. Despite this improvement, the index remains in the negative range, indicating that businesses in this sector still assess economic conditions as unfavorable.
