🔻 Delcy Rodríguez, interim president of Venezuela, confirmed the oil deal with the United States and called it “historic.” She said that the deal “will have a significant impact on the country’s recovery” and could bring more than $100 billion in investment and more than $209 billion in tax revenue for the Venezuelan government.

The announcement of this deal comes as the United States’ war with Iran has disrupted the global supply of oil, and high gasoline prices have become one of the key political issues for Donald Trump ahead of the November midterm elections.

Previously, Mr. Trump had said that the deal gives Washington major control of Venezuela’s 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves and described it as the “biggest oil deal in world history.”

Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, also said that this deal will create nearly $100 billion in private investment in Venezuela and help rebuild the country’s economy.
