The EU foreign policy chief wrote that the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia are «unacceptable and target the global economy».

Kaya Kallas, on X, added that she had discussed with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, diplomatic efforts to end the war in Yemen and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Kallas wrote that maritime transit must be «unhindered and without tariffs», and added: «Europe helps protect shipping in the Red Sea against Houthi attacks.»

Accordingly, the EU’s Operation Aspides, given the worsening security situation, has raised the readiness level of its vessels and continues its escort mission.
