Germany’s Foreign Ministry, in response to Iran International, announced that the consular section and visa unit of its embassy in Tehran remain in an emergency operational status due to the current security situation in Iran, and that no normal time for visa applications will be set until further notice.

A spokesperson for Germany’s Foreign Ministry told Iran International that the current crisis has intensified the technical and staffing limitations of the visa section, which have existed since the events of June 2025. However, efforts to increase the capacity for accepting applications from Iranian applicants

Based on information received by Iran International, the review of visa applications that have been submitted previously continues within the available capacity, and visas that are ready for issuance are also delivered in Tehran.

Iran International has also learned that for applicants who are joining family members, a separate pathway has been set up, and that those registered on the waiting list of the German embassy in Tehran are contacted so that their applications can be received in Istanbul and through the Family Assistance program of the International Organization for Migration.
