🔻Greece buys Israel’s multi-layer air defense

Greece signed a contract worth about $3.5 billion to purchase a multi-layer air defense system from Israel.

The purpose of this military equipment is stated to be strengthening Greece’s defensive capability to counter potential threats, especially from Turkey and Iran.

The contract, signed today, is part of Greece’s broader military modernization program titled “Achilles Shield.”

Under the agreement, “David’s Sling” systems, designed to intercept heavy missiles and ballistic missiles, and the mobile “Spyder” air defense systems, which are intended for countering drones, will be provided to Greece.

Greece has drawn closer to Israel increasingly, especially after the start of the 40-day war.
