🔻Reports of signing a 10-year military cooperation agreement between Finland and Israel

Finland, away from media attention, has signed a 10-year memorandum of understanding with Israel, which includes research and development of military equipment and expands the two countries’ military relations.

The memorandum of understanding, first reported by the Finnish broadcaster Yle, is valid until 2034 and will replace the previous agreement, which was extended in five-year periods. Finland proposed extending this agreement in early 2024, as the previous memorandum of understanding was nearing its expiration.

Antti Häkkänen, Finland’s defense minister, confirmed the signing of this new memorandum of understanding.

This comes as opposition to military cooperation between the two countries in Finland’s government is growing, and it is said that Finland’s Ministry of Defense did not release the news of the signing of this memorandum of understanding for that reason.
