Hassan Qashqavi, the spokesman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament, said in an interview with ILNA News Agency that the new Leader, from a jurisprudential perspective, can issue a “fatwa” on nuclear issues.

The spokesman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament said: “However, so far I have not heard anything about any change in the previous fatwa in this regard.”

Hassan Qashqavi also said: “Killing our Leader provided a basis in a natural, religious, and jurisprudential sense, on which the new Leader can issue new fatwas in all jurisprudential matters, from prayer, the limits of truce and purity/ritual cleanliness, and purifiers, to nuclear weapons.”

The spokesman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament, regarding the discussion of a “triple-emergency bill” for exiting the NPT raised by some members of parliament, said: “The point is that we are not people of war; like any country, we are pursuing peace, development, and stability.”

Qashqavi also added: “Whenever we do not reach complete deterrence, any diplomatic negotiations and any military and defensive action may lead to the next war.”
