🔶 Identification and seizure of several drones in Iraq

Iraq’s Ministry of the Interior said on Thursday, August 13 (22 Mordad) that the country’s Intelligence Management Organization and Counter-Terrorism carried out two separate operations in Baghdad and identified and seized more than 20 domestically made drones.

The ministry also reported the arrest of four people. The reports published on this matter did not mention the identities of these individuals or provide any precise details about the types of the drones.

In early Mordad, Saudi Arabia said it had been hit by drone attacks on its oil facilities and attributed the source of the attacks to Iranian-backed groups in Iraq.

In connection with this allegation, Ali al-Faالح al-Zaydi, commander-in-chief of Iraq’s armed forces and prime minister, ordered the relevant security institutions to investigate. Later, it was announced that the review of available information and evidence had begun and that “the necessary legal actions against any person or party whose role in these actions is proven will be taken.”

In today’s statement, Iraq’s Ministry of the Interior did not say whether the identifications and the seizure of the drones are related to these investigations or to a separate case.
