Images shared on social media show oil pollution in parts of Qeshm Island’s coasts.
After these images were published, Iranian state-run news agencies announced that the Qeshm prosecutor has issued an order for the immediate containment of oil pollution on the island’s shores.
In recent months, environmental activists have expressed concern about serious threats to the ecosystem of the Persian Gulf.
Earlier, a large oil slick had also been observed in the west of Khark, Iran’s largest oil terminal, which had spread along the route of worn-out pipelines.
