🔻Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says tomorrow’s meeting agenda is a “new sea route in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Araqchi told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed: “We will provide the participating countries with the details of the agreement with Oman and the related maps for the new route.”

The Iranian foreign minister, however, emphasized that “the agreement with the Sultanate of Oman in no way means reopening the Strait of Hormuz.”

According to him, “Iran’s condition for reopening the Strait of Hormuz is America’s return to its commitments in the Islamabad understandings.”

Tasnim News Agency, citing a source whose name it did not disclose, had written that under this understandings the Strait of Hormuz would not be fully reopened; rather, the Iran-Oman agreement would provide the grounds for reopening it.

Iran has said that on Monday it will take part in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the coastal states of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

This eight-country meeting will be held in Salalah, Oman.
