🔻Laleh Marzban, Iranian actress, received the Best Actress award in the Horizons section of the Venice Film Festival for her role in the film The Caretaker, directed by Mohsen Qarai.
Ms. Marzban dedicated her award to “Brave Women of Iran” and said that “they are enduring the heaviest pressures.”
In her award acceptance speech, she said: “I dedicate my award to the women of my homeland who have paid the highest price for the smallest freedoms.”
While reading her acceptance speech, Ms. Marzban added, with tears: “These women carry today’s dreams, courage, and hope on their shoulders, and I believe that one day the wishes of all of us will be fulfilled.”
At the end, she said in Persian: “I know that we are experiencing the hardest days of our lives, but we must not lose hope.”
At the 83rd Venice Film Festival, two Iranian films were in competition: the film A Little Light, directed by Ali Asgari, in the competition section, and The Caretaker, directed by Mohsen Qarai.
