The head of the Iranian Steel Producers Association said the value of production lost in this industry due to energy constraints is about 18 billion dollars.

Baharom Sohbani, at the conference “Steel and Iron Ore Industry in an Era of Transformation,” warned that the electricity and gas shortfall is no longer a temporary problem and has become a structural barrier.

According to him, the real cost of energy for industries is much higher than the announced rate, and power and gas cuts, in addition to increasing costs, also disrupt the production and planning of enterprises.

Sohbani said that in the months when electricity and gas have been relatively supplied, the country’s steel production has reached more than 3.4 million tons per month.
