Jim Banks, the Republican senator from the state of Indiana, said on Sunday, 18 Mordad that President Donald Trump’s policy against the Islamic Republic has demonstrated America’s power by weakening the Islamic Republic of Iran’s missile and nuclear capabilities and increasing economic pressure, and has created the conditions for achieving lasting peace.

In an interview with the NBC network, Senator Banks said that President Trump is the first U.S. president in 47 years who has confronted the Islamic Republic in order to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. He said he does not want the next generation to live in a world in which the Iranian regime can threaten the United States and its allies with nuclear weapons.

This Republican senator and Afghanistan war veteran praised the performance of U.S. armed forces and said they have destroyed 85% of the Islamic Republic’s ballistic missiles and a large part of its defense industry infrastructure. He also said that the naval blockade imposed by President Trump was the reason for the severe pressure brought to bear on the Iranian regime’s economy.

Senator Banks said that the combination of military and economic pressure can bring about “lasting peace” not only for the Middle East, but for the entire world.
