Kamran Ghasanfari, Tehran’s representative in the parliament, said in an interview with the Iran Watch website that “a motion of no confidence in the president has been raised,” and that the reason is “economic, political and cultural conditions.”

Ghasanfari added: “This issue is within the powers of members of the parliament, and by doing such a thing they fulfill part of their duties.”

The parliamentarian also said about the possibility of the presiding committee opposing the introduction of the motion of no confidence in the president: “If the Speaker of Parliament prevents this motion, it would be an unlawful act and contrary to the rules of procedure of the parliament. It is also not justifiable.”
