🔸 Members of parliament in Iran on Sunday, September 29, approved a provision of the so-called “Countering Foreign Influence” bill as they continued to review it.

🔸 Article 9 of this bill, approved in a virtual open session on Sunday, concerns “clarification” and teaching the topic of “the infiltration of the enemy and awareness-raising” in relevant organizations, departments, and schools.

🔸 The approval of the bill’s general provisions by the Islamic Consultative Assembly, which took place in late August of this year, under the title “Countering the infiltration of intelligence services and governments or foreign entities,” faced negative reactions in Iran from the outset, and even President Masoud Pezeshkian’s government officially announced its opposition to it.

🔸 But despite all objections, the new parliamentary resolution obliges the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education to explain the issue of enemy infiltration, raise awareness in this regard, and teach media literacy in the content of textbooks and courses.
