Lebanon’s prime minister announced that a multilateral meeting will be held with the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, along with Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Turkey, hosted by the United States on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Nawaf Salam said on the social media platform X that the meeting focused on efforts to reduce tensions, prevent further confrontations, and strengthen Lebanon’s Arab, regional and international relations.

He noted that the meeting emphasized the complete withdrawal of Israel from Lebanese territory and preparations for the period after the mandate of the United Nations peacekeeping forces ends.

The Lebanese prime minister said he is working to secure support for the process of return, restoration and reconstruction of the areas of Lebanon damaged during the war.

The United States is the main mediator between Lebanon and Israel, and with the efforts of President Trump, a peace agreement between the two sides was signed in July of this year.
