Mohsen Namjoo, in reaction to a video by Avazeh Eghlahi, his wife, about his unexpected return to Iran, said that they had had a disagreement for months before this trip and that he intentionally did not tell her his final decision. Namjoo said: “In your mind, this was an unchangeable issue that it would definitely become the right matter for us. That’s why I didn’t tell you not to change your opinion.” He also claimed that after returning to Iran, he was met with a welcome from the people, and they tell him “welcome.” In another part of the video, the singer criticized his wife for repeating statements from monarchist accounts and for calling his critics “mercenaries.” Namjoo also said that he does not know himself as “responsible for the blood of young people who left,” and emphasized that his return to Iran does not mean supporting the Islamic Republic.
