In response to Iran International, New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced details of the “economic expulsion” campaign by the United States against the Islamic Republic, saying it would not take a position, at the current stage, on the measures announced.

The ministry said New Zealand supports international efforts, including United Nations Security Council sanctions, to address concerns related to the Iranian government’s nuclear program and regional security, provided that these actions are within the framework of international law.

In addition to implementing UN Security Council sanctions, New Zealand has also sanctioned a number of Iranian individuals and companies involved in supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine. According to the foreign ministry of this country, as a result of existing restrictions, the volume of trade between New Zealand and Iran is very small.

At the same time, Australia’s foreign ministry also, in a written response to Iran International, refrained from commenting on the new U.S. sanctions. These reactions come as Washington seeks to bring more countries into the “economic expulsion” campaign against the Islamic Republic.
