📸 On the Path to the Birth of Silk; A Story of Sericulture in Gilan
Due to favorable climatic conditions, Gilan is considered one of the most important regions for sericulture in Iran. In this province, silkworms are raised over about 45 days to two months, and at the end of this period, cocoons are produced—the raw material for the silk industry.
For many rural families, sericulture is not only an economic activity; it is part of a heritage that has continued for years alongside agriculture and local life. A traditional industry that, despite economic and social changes, has still maintained its place in some areas of Gilan.
