The Counter-Terrorism Directorate of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reported a drone attack on the office of Masrur Barzani, the prime minister of the Kurdistan Region, and the residence of the head of the intelligence service in this region.
The organization said in a statement on Monday, 17 August (26 Mordad) that the attack was carried out “from Iranian territory with two Hadeed 110 suicide drones,” and that it resulted in no casualties.
The statement did not mention whether the drones hit their targets.
In a message on the X social network, Masrur Barzani, citing investigations carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Directorate of the Kurdistan Region, confirmed the Iranian drone attack on his personal office and the residence of the head of the intelligence service in the autonomous region. He wrote that he condemns these “brazen and unacceptable violations” in the “strongest possible terms.”
Barzani called the action “a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of Iraqi Kurdistan,” and emphasized: “These attacks will not stop us from carrying out our duties and protecting our citizens.”
