🔻 Pezeshkian: Why should we fight when we can get what is our right through dialogue

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, defended continuing negotiations with the United States on the second anniversary of his presidential inauguration, and said: “When we can get our right through dialogue, why should we fight?”

He said that Iran will not back down from its positions, but added that continuing the war is the path, as he put it, that Israel wants so that Iran would be forced to surrender.

Pezeshkian also said that through dialogue, Iran has been able to stop the war in Lebanon, lift the blockade, and reduce some sanctions.

In another part of his remarks, he said that Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of Parliament, had been asked to join Iran’s negotiating team, and that Qalibaf accepted the request.

Pezeshkian said that representatives from the judiciary, the parliament, the armed forces, and other institutions are also present in this team, to show, as he said, that “we are all together.”

He also expressed regret that some people are disrespecting Mr. Araqchi, and said: “I don’t know which religion and sect allows a person to accuse another, insult, or show disrespect.”

In another part of his remarks, the Iranian president criticized people, as he put it, who “comment on everything with incomplete information,” and said that those who prescribe advice without sufficient data for complex economic, political, and social issues “divert society.”

Pezeshkian also said that Iran has neutralized its opponents’ efforts to weaken or destabilize the country through military pressure.
