President Trump said that Robert Gilmom, a former U.S. Navy serviceman who had been imprisoned in Russia in 2022, has been released and is returning to the United States after talks with Vladimir Putin.

Trump said that Russia agreed to release Gilmom on the basis of “humanitarian considerations,” and that “no exchange took place.”

Gilmom is expected to land at Andrews Air Force Base, where he will meet his mother and other family members.

Trump also said that Gilmom’s first request was “an excellent hamburger.”
