The remains of an Israeli soldier who had been missing for 44 years since the time of the Sultan Yaakov battle in Lebanon were returned.

Israel does not spare any effort to recover the remains of soldiers who were killed and bury them in their homeland, and it considers this an ethical and spiritual obligation.

After 44 years, the Israel Defense Forces informed the family of the fallen soldier, Yehuda Katz, that his remains had been found. Katz was the last missing Israeli soldier from the Sultan Yaakov battle in Lebanon in 1982, during which three Israeli soldiers had gone missing.
