Rouhollah Rahimpour, journalist and political analyst, with reference to the announcement of the United States’s readiness to hold talks with the Islamic Republic and, at the same time, the Assembly of Experts’ opposition to “honorable peace,” said that the diplomatic team of the Islamic Republic is facing simultaneous external pressures and the opposition of influential domestic currents to an agreement with the United States.

He added that the chance for diplomacy has not yet been lost, but if the Islamic Republic wants to resolve tensions through diplomatic means, it must clearly and in a verifiable way retreat from its positions in the nuclear program, missile policy, and regional policies.
