Mohsen Rezaei says Iran has announced its conditions for stopping the war with the United States

🔸Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, says the Islamic Republic has conveyed its “conditions” for stopping the war with the United States and for negotiations through Qatar and is waiting for a response from the U.S. president.

🔸Rezaei said on Saturday, 28 Shahrivar, in an interview with Al Jazeera that these conditions include ending the war on all fronts, releasing Iran’s frozen assets, and ending the maritime blockade.

🔸The three conditions he has now announced in general for ending the war are three commitments drawn from the items in the Islamabad agreement that the two sides signed earlier this spring, but which, three weeks later, effectively collapsed following attacks attributed to Iran on several oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and then the sweeping U.S. attacks in response.

🔸This position was announced one day after Donald Trump said the Iranian government wants a deal with the United States, but he stressed that if there is not a “proper” agreement, “I won’t even think about it.”

🔸Rezaei said Iran’s consultations with Qatari and Pakistani mediators are still ongoing and Tehran is waiting for a response from Donald Trump. At the same time, while making the claim that the Iranian government is prepared for a “fate-determining war,” he threatened that it would benefit the United States for the U.S. to accept the Islamic Republic’s conditions for ending the war.

🔸Rezaei’s remarks coincide with statements by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, who on Saturday emphasized that Tehran’s goal in the ongoing indirect negotiations is to bring the United States back to the Islamabad agreement.
