🔸The board of directors of the House of Cinema, in a letter to Masoud Pezeshkian, the president, with criticism of how some institutions have treated filmmakers and people in the culture and arts sector, called for an end to some practices and summonses and for the formation of a committee to pursue the matter and ensure accountability.

🔸In this letter, released by the public relations of the House of Cinema, it is stated that the continuation of these behaviors in conditions where officials of the country emphasize “national unity” can lead to increased social rifts.

🔸The House of Cinema has asked the president, in his capacity as the official responsible for implementing the Constitution, to take action to stop these processes.

🔸In recent months, reports have been published about the detention of at least two filmmakers, Samira Norouzi Naseri and Sepideh Abtahi. In Khordad as well, reports were published about the summoning of about 30 cinema professionals in connection with their statements regarding the crackdown on the protests of the previous Dey to the Culture and Media Prosecutor’s Office.

🔸According to the reports, Fatemeh Mohajerani, the government spokesperson, on Sunday morning, 11 Mordad, speaking in response to this letter, said that the president would follow up by issuing “the necessary directives for follow-up” on this issue.
