The central committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ministry of Science has confirmed the expulsion orders for three students in connection with the protests of Esfand 1404. Based on these rulings, two students from Sharif University of Technology and one student from Shahid Beheshti University were expelled.

Student News Agency, affiliated with the Basij Student Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reported on Saturday, 28 Shahrivar, that Fereydoun Kohnzad, a student of industrial engineering at Sharif University of Technology, Parin Khodabakhshi, a student of materials engineering at this university, and Alireza Jafarzadeh, a student of international political economy at Shahid Beheshti University, are the three students whose expulsion orders have been confirmed by the central disciplinary committee of Iran’s Ministry of Science.

According to this report, in addition to expulsion, Kohnzad has been banned from continuing his studies for five years. Student News Agency said the reason for opening a disciplinary case against him and Khodabakhshi was their presence at university protests and carrying the Lion and Sun flag.

The outlet added that expulsion orders were also issued for Khodabakhshi and Jafarzadeh, which—if “expressed regret” is shown—would be changed to three terms of exclusion from studies, with the calculation of academic years. Student News Agency wrote that Jafarzadeh’s case was filed in connection with his role in the gatherings of Esfand 1404.
