The Court of Audit announced the identification of 77 trillion toman in net profit in the 1404 financial statements of the Central Bank, which, according to this body, a significant portion of it was formed by the surge in the exchange rate, the revaluation of foreign-currency assets, the sale of gold, and income resulting from providing liquidity to banks.

The Court of Audit placed the Central Bank among the most profitable state-owned companies and stated that this is, more than a sign of profitable performance, a reflection of imbalances in the country’s monetary and financial structure.

The dollar exchange rate has surged by 110% over the past year, and the latest report by the Central Bank shows that the government’s debt and that of other banks to this bank at the end of last year increased by 54% and 45%, respectively.

By the end of last year, the total debt of the government and the country’s banks to the Central Bank reached 1695 hemts.
