The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Turkey discussed diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions and protect freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.

Saudi Arabia’s official news agency reported that Faisal bin Farhan and Hakan Fidan reviewed the issue in a telephone call on Tuesday. Based on the report, the two ministers emphasized the need to support diplomacy in a way that guarantees the security of the waterways of the two regions and helps maintain regional security and stability.

The call is part of a series of consultations by the two ministers in recent weeks, as Riyadh has increased its diplomatic coordination with regional partners to contain the crisis.
