The U.S. Department of Justice, in a new lawsuit, described a missile threat attributed to the Iranian government—which last month in Turkey led to the secret transfer of Donald Trump’s aircraft—as an “attempt at assassination.”

John Sauter, U.S. Attorney General, on Friday, 23 Mordad, referred to the incident in an emergency petition to the Supreme Court. The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to overturn a court ruling that halted part of the construction operations for a new reception hall at the White House.

According to The Hill magazine, in this petition Sauter wrote: “President Trump has recently become the target of a growing number of assassination attempts.” He, among other things, referred to the “threat of a missile attack on Air Force One” on July 8 [17 Tir].

The Washington Post had earlier reported that in July, Trump was secretly transferred from an older Air Force One aircraft to another plane by using a food-carrying truck, due to a threat attributed to the Iranian government.
