The UAE president’s diplomatic adviser said the region cannot continue in a “neither war nor peace” situation and cannot be based on arrangements that are separate from international law.

Anwar Gargash wrote in a message on the X social network on Tuesday that regional stability and the future of its peoples “require clarity in the vision and the path ahead.”

He added: “At the same time, the next stage cannot be based on fragile rules or arrangements that are separated from international law, the foundations of peaceful coexistence, respect for the sovereignty of countries, and the logic of peace.”

The adviser to the UAE president described the ultimate goal as “a transition toward a lasting stability governed by clear, shared rules.”

Gargash’s reference to “fragile rules or arrangements outside the framework of international law” comes at a time when the Islamic Republic insists on applying its own “arrangements” to the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
