🔶 Trump: Removing Infantino from FIFA would be a terrible mistake

Donald Trump warned that if the world football governing body FIFA removes Gianni Infantino from his role “for any reason,” it would commit a “terrible mistake.”

The U.S. president, in a message posted on the Truth Social network, described Infantino’s removal as a costly move and wrote, praising him: «He [Infantino] is outstanding and has recently taken charge of the most successful World Cup, which was four times as successful as all previous editions in terms of success. If he steps down, these competitions will never again be as successful or profitable.»

In recent weeks, FIFA president Infantino has faced strong criticism for his controversial proposal to transfer part of the World Cup football tournament’s shares to private investors.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Football (CONCACAF) have accused Infantino of “deception,” saying they will give him the opportunity to withdraw his candidacy ahead of the elections scheduled for March next year.
