🔺The Wall Street Journal: Trump told mediators that he will not return to the understanding

▪Donald Trump, the President of the United States, told mediators and regional partners that he has no interest in returning to the terms of the understanding memorandum from last June with the Islamic Republic.

▪According to the Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, the U.S. government’s refusal to return to the conditions that had been agreed with Tehran earlier in the summer has greatly complicated the process of resuming diplomatic talks.

▪Based on the memorandum of understanding signed on June 27, a 60-day framework for a ceasefire was set. However, the memorandum collapsed within a few weeks due to attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on vessels transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, and the 60-day deadline ended in mid-August without a final agreement.
