The Washington Post reported that due to the Islamic Republic’s threat to assassinate Donald Trump, the President of the United States, a secret security operation was carried out in Turkey last month. After Trump got in front of cameras aboard an old Air Force One, he was covertly transferred by a catering truck at the airport to a military aircraft, a C-32A, and then headed to the UK. The old Air Force One was also used as a decoy flight, with reporters and White House staff on board, so that Trump’s actual location would remain hidden for a few hours.

According to this report, the incident occurred on Tir 17 and at the end of Trump’s trip to Ankara to attend the NATO summit.

Trump had traveled to Ankara to attend the NATO summit aboard a newly rebuilt aircraft donated by Qatar, but when he left Turkey he unexpectedly used the old Air Force One.

Similar operations to protect U.S. presidents have been carried out before as well. One of the better-known examples was in 2000, during President Bill Clinton’s trip to Pakistan.
