🔶 Trump cuts joint drills with South Korea in half

South Korea and the United States will cut their ongoing military exercises in half. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said that, at Washington’s request, the drills will end on Friday of this week, August 21 (30 Mordad).

Initially, the joint South Korea–U.S. military drills, titled “Freedom Shield Ulchi,” were set to continue until August 27, after starting last Monday.

According to South Korea’s state-run KBS, the armed forces of the two countries will, as in previous years, practice defending against a simulated attack by North Korea. However, the counterattack that had earlier been part of the exercise program has been completely removed. Officials have not confirmed the matter so far.
